Frequently asked questions.

About the Service

  1. What is remote livestream audio mixing?
We connect directly to your church’s livestream feed and/or your churches front of house console and professionally mix your audio in real time — no need for us to be onsite with the developments in technology.

  2. How is this different from having a volunteer mix at church?
We specialize in professional audio engineering and our team has vast experience in church leadership mixing livestream and front of house in a way that helps the heart, message and sound of a church community translate to the online audience.

  3. Are you the first to offer this service?
Yes. Hillside Sound pioneered remote livestream mixing for churches and has been setting the standard nationwide. There are multiple other companies marketing themselves as offering the same thing - even using the same language but we hear from churches every month who have had negative experiences with ‘the other guys’.

Results & Quality

  1. Will this really fix our bad livestream sound?
Yes — most churches hear dramatic improvement in their very first service with us. Our team is in real-time communication with you and your team every week offering consultation, encouragement and support as we mix.

  2. What makes your mixes different?
We mix for clarity, presence, and emotional impact — so worship feels alive online and the Word is crystal clear. Anyone can say they are a professional mixing engineer but our entire team has vast experience as worship leaders, musicians, music directors, front of house audio, and church staff leadership. We see this as a ministry and operate as such.

  3. How soon can we be up and running?
Usually within a week but we typically say 7-10 days. Once we patch into your system, you’ll be ready for your next Sunday.

Practical & Technical

  1. What equipment do we need?
A digital console with either USB or Dante multi-track output for all the raw audio on the board, an M1 or above Mac computer with a minimum of 16gb of RAM and ideally investing in 3rd party plugins to make the version of the template we create the best available.

  2. Does this work with our setup (Dante, analog, digital boards)?
Yes — we’ve worked with nearly every system: Dante, Waves, Behringer, Yamaha, Allen & Heath, BlackMagic ATEM, Resi and many more.

  3. Will this disrupt our in-person sound?
Not at all. We handle only the livestream mix, leaving your sanctuary sound untouched. We do offer remote FOH mixing now depending on what console you are currently using. Reach out if you are interested in more information about that.

Pricing & Support

  1. How much does remote mixing cost?
Pricing is based on how many services you need our team for, what service (FOH or Livestream Audio) you need us for, the time zone of your services and how long they are. We give each quote custom based on those things so please reach out to us or e-mail nick.rector@hillsidesound.com for more information.

  2. Do you offer support during live services?
Yes — our team mixes your service in real time, so if something goes wrong, we’re right there with you and we’re in constant contact with you and your team as the service goes on. Many business marketing themselves as offering our product will show up at the start of service or ‘set it and forget it’ which has left many churches feeling abandoned and taken advantage of. We are present from the start of soundcheck through the end of the service engaging in every part of what God is doing.

  3. Do you lock us into a contract?
Because of the front end investment to onboard a church, the rapidity of how quickly our team is growing and how many churches we have reach out on a weekly basis to move forward, we require a 6 month or 12 month contract. We do offer sample mixes of what our workflow would sound like for your church and also have flexible contract termination options so don’t hesitate to reach out today.

Mission & Values

  1. Why does audio quality matter for churches?
Jesus is worthy of the absolute best that we can give him in terms of skill, excellence and worship. Excellent sound stewards moments for congregations and online viewers to engage and encounter God and we take that very seriously as a small part of the team that helps those things translate and reach the community God has given you. We believe clear livestream audio helps carry the message farther and with excellence.

  2. How does this serve the mission of our church?
Our team sees what we do as ministry first. We all have extensive church leadership and staff experience and know the day-to-day challenges. Our heart is to come alongside churches and be a support system and consistent strength so you know what is happening in the room is translating with confidence. We believe audio is more than technical — it’s spiritual stewardship. Clear, excellent sound ensures worship and the message TRANSLATE and nothing prevents people from engaging.
